Highly-Trained and Experienced Pediatric Neurosurgeon Opens Office in West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach, FL – March 19, 2018 – Palm Beach Children’s Surgical Specialists (PBCSS), a Tenet Florida Physician Services practice, welcomes R. Dev Bhardwaj, MD, PhD, FRCSC, FACS, a pediatric neurosurgeon, with over 18-years of neurosurgery experience. Dr. Bhardwaj specializes in general pediatric neurosurgery, brain tumor surgery, biology, novel therapies and movement disorder for dystonia (Pediatric Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) Implantation). Dr. Bhardwaj is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgeons. He is on staff at Palm Beach Children’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Dr. Bhardwaj completed a PhD in molecular biology, studying endogenous human neural and cardiac regeneration capacity using atomic bomb tests at the Nobel Medical Institute, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He graduated medical school from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, and completed his internship and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. Adding to his extensive education and training, Dr. Bhardwaj finished a cancer stem cell research fellowship at Sanford Burnham Institute in La Jolla, CA, and a clinical pediatric neurosurgery fellowship from Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA. Dr. Bhardwaj is fluent in English, French, German and has familiarity with Swedish, Hindi and Punjabi.
Prior to joining PBCSS, Dr. Bhardwaj was also Director of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Program and a Consultant Pediatric Neurosurgeon at Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Bhardwaj was the Medical Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Sanford Children’s Hospital and Principal Investigator Scientist at Sanford Research Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dr. Bhardwaj has won numerous awards during his medical career. In 2014, he won the Phoenix Business Journal’s Healthcare Hero Award for Medical Innovation on DBS and immunotherapy and was awarded a Certificate of Special Arizona Congressional Recognition based on biomedical work performed in Arizona. He was awarded the 2009 K.G. McKenzie Memorial Prize for excellence in Clinical Research from the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation.
Dr. Bhardwaj has published numerous scientific publications relating to neurosurgery in peer reviewed journals and medical books, has written numerous abstracts on neurosurgery research and participated as an invited speaker at neurosurgery conferences, meetings and symposiums.
