Nationally Renowned, Experienced Pediatric General Surgeon Joins Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups (PBHNPG) and Opens Office in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Fla. – September 6, 2016 – Palm Beach Health Network Physician Groups (PBHNPG) is pleased to announce Anne C. Fischer, MD, PhD, Tenet Florida’s Regional Medical Director of Pediatric Surgery, has opened her Palm Beach Children’s Specialists office in West Palm Beach. Dr. Fischer is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. She specializes in oncologic surgery for childhood malignancies, complex neonatal surgery with prenatal counseling and intervention, as well as advanced minimally invasive laparoscopy (MIS), thoracoscopy – video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and NUSS surgery, a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of chest wall deformities (Nuss Bar). Dr. Fischer is on staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, on the campus of SMMC in West Palm Beach.

Dr. Fischer is the former Surgeon-in-Chief at Beaumont’s Children Hospital and the Chief of pediatric surgery at William Beaumont Hospital located in Royal Oak, MI. Dr. Fischer was voted the Top Doctor Award in 2015 both by Detroit Magazine in their Hour Detroit section and the Ambassador Magazine. In 2014, she was named Top Doctor in Pediatric Surgery by Castle Connolly Medical Inc. and won the Top 10 Doctor Award by American Registry and in 2012 was named one of America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumer’s Research Council in their Honors of Distinction and Excellence category.

For her education and training, Dr. Fischer completed her pediatric surgery fellowship training at Boston Children’s Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. She completed general surgery residency and medical school at John Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, MD where she also completed a PhD in Immunology and postdoctoral fellowship at Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. Most recently she has been a professor in the department of surgery at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Royal Oak, MI, and has held numerous faculty academic appointments during her professional medical career at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Johns Hopkins Medical School.

Dr. Fischer is a member of numerous professional affiliations such as Fellow, of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and as Member, of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, Children’s Oncology Group – Surgical Discipline, Society of University Surgeons, American Society of Gene Therapy and the Association for Academic Surgery. Dr. Fischer has been practicing pediatric surgery since 1999.

For her editorial activities, Dr. Fischer serves as editor of Current Surgery Reports and associate editor of the Journal of Surgical Research. Dr. Fischer has published numerous scientific publications relating to pediatric general surgery in peer reviewed journals and medical books. For the past three decades, Dr. Fischer has also written numerous abstracts on pediatric research and participated as an invited lecturer at dozens of pediatric conferences, meetings and symposiums in both the national and international settings.
