Endoscopic Procedures
With advancements in technology, additional treatment options have become available. At Palm Beach Children’s Surgical Specialists, we are committed to providing advanced treatment options to our patients. Endoscopic procedures allow for a minimally invasive approach. This involves using smaller incisions to access the targeted area. Using endoscopic procedures may shorten recovery time, reduce scarring, shorten time spent in surgery and reduce postoperative pain.
Endoscopic procedures can be a treatment option for:
- Brain Tumors
- Brain Lesions
- Gliomas
- Colloid Cysts
- Hydrocehalus
- Chiari Malformations
Endoscopic procedures can include:
- Keyhole Incisions – This procedure involves using smaller incisions to reach the targeted area within the brain minimizing disruption of normal brain tissue.
- Eyebrow Incisions – For some tumors, surgical removal can be accessed through a small incision in the eyebrow. This allows for the incision location to be hidden in the eyebrow without leaving a visible scar.
- Neuroendoscopy – This minimally invasive technique allows for visualization of the area through an endoscope with a camera on the end. This tube is inserted through small incisions which can result in reduced hospital stays.
Each person’s condition is unique and at Palm Beach Children’s Surgical Specialists we are committed to providing individualized care for your child’s needs.
